PURPOSE STATEMENT

I believe life and communities are better when we live in spaces that inspire us. My purpose is to bring design, beauty, and pride back into homes and towns - to help people see and experience art in their everyday lives. Real estate is my vehicle, design is my passion, and development is my legacy.

These last couple weeks I’ve been installing new flooring — a high-quality white oak veneer that deserves to be done right. It’s not the kind of project you rush. Every piece of trim has to come off carefully, every cut has to be clean, and you have to slow down enough to protect the details that matter — like the wallpaper, the edges, the craftsmanship.

It got me thinking: real estate, design, development — they’re all the same way. The best results don’t come from speed, they come from care. Whether I’m helping a client buy their first home, overseeing a renovation, or developing a downtown property, I take the same approach — do it once, do it right, and make it last.

Anyone can get the job done. But taking the time to do it well — that’s where real value is built and where I find my joy.

This summit always feels a little like summer camp. Sure, it’s packed with sessions, speakers, and big announcements — but the real magic happens when you get to see all your friends from across the country, laugh together, and swap stories over amazing food and late-night conversations. Those moments always stick with me the most. 🧡

This year had some big highlights:

The Senior VP of Digital Marketing at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices shared incredible insights on AI and marketing. 💻

NAR President Kevin Sears presented, which was such a privilege to hear. ⚖️

A huge announcement with Verl Workman. 👨‍🏫

Even a refresh of our already-amazing branding. 🎨

And of course, NextHome giving back — we supported the Disaster Relief Foundation and Canine Companions 🐾.

Stephanie and I learned a ton, had so many fun dinners with friends (the food was just as good as the conversations), and yes — we survived the Arizona heat 🌵🔥. Coming home to 50° weather was a shock, but we brought back warm hearts and fresh ideas.

We’re only 2.5 years into building NextHome Superior Living, but seeing the NextHome franchise celebrate 10 years is proof of just how strong, innovative, and collaborative this community is. And honestly, it feels like we’re all just getting started. 🚀

One Month Alcohol-Free: Clarity in Life and Business

A month ago, I made a simple but powerful decision: to stop drinking alcohol. Not because I had a problem, but because I recognized I am better without it. I think more clearly, I’m more focused, and I feel more aligned with the goals I’ve set for myself when I take away the distractions.

Over the past month, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on where I am, where I’ve been, and where I want to go. Somewhere along the way, I realized I had lost focus on the vision I originally had — both in my personal life and in my business. I was saying “yes” to too many things, letting distractions eat up my energy, and slowly drifting from the relationships and opportunities I had worked hard to build.

Going alcohol-free has been about more than just what I drink — it’s about boundaries. It’s about protecting my energy, my time, and my mindset so I can show up as the best version of myself. That means being more intentional in my day-to-day life, taking better care of my health, and putting my focus back where it belongs: my relationships, my clients, and the brokerage I’m building.

On a personal level, I’ve noticed the little changes that add up to something big. I wake up with more clarity. I have more energy and to spend time doing the things that recharge me. My thoughts feel sharper, and I feel more present with the people around me.

On a professional level, this decision has reignited my drive. I’ve made the choice to get back into coaching because I know accountability works. Having someone in my corner who challenges me, helps me refine my goals, and holds me responsible keeps me performing at my best. I want to bring that same energy and accountability into my brokerage — for myself, my agents, and my clients.

This season is about reconnecting: with myself, with past clients, and with new ones. It’s about building deeper, stronger relationships and growing a business rooted in clarity, integrity, and focus.

One month in, I can honestly say this choice has already made a difference. And the best part? This is only the beginning. 🧡

I’m in the process of repainting most of my house and embracing color in a big way—Rainstorm blues, Earthen Jug and Butterscotch oranges, bold greens like Relentless Olive and Hunt Club, and even a deep Merlot.

Living in the U.P., where winter can stretch over six months and the outside world stays locked in white and gray, I’ve never understood the urge to keep a home in shades of gray too. (Sorry, millennial gray—some of us crave more personality!)

I believe color, when layered with texture and pattern, creates a sophisticated and inspiring atmosphere. It’s not just about decorating—it’s about how a space makes you feel. For me? Motivated, creative, and grounded.

Don’t be afraid to breathe some fresh air (and color!) into your home.

Luke Day is all about putting people first, and we are incredibly grateful to our team, clients, friends, and neighbors who showed up to support this cause with compassion and heart. 💬💥

This year, NextHome Superior Living proudly celebrated Luke Day by giving back to some of the most important members of our community — our kids in foster care.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $2,000 in donations and supplies to benefit local foster youth through Upper Peninsula Family Solutions. From essential items to heartfelt notes, every contribution made a difference.

Two years ago tomorrow, Season 3 of HGTV’s Battle on the Beach premiered — and with it, a chapter of my life that changed me more than I ever expected.

When I first showed up to the Gulf Shores, I was 33 — nervous about public speaking, uneasy in front of a camera, and unsure of what I’d gotten myself into. I had no idea it would still come up in conversations two years later — or that it would be the catalyst for so much personal growth.

Truthfully, it came at the beginning of one of the hardest years of my life — mentally, financially, physically. But it also revealed my resilience. It helped me discover where my real passions shine, strengthened friendships I’ll always cherish, and reminded me what true support looks like.

The biggest lessons didn’t stop once the cameras did. Coming home, the real “battle” continued — rebuilding, recalibrating, and learning how to keep showing up for myself and my people. But each challenge helped shape the person I am today.

I’ll never forget the night of the premiere… friends showing up, my sister surprising me all the way from Montana, and the outpouring of local love. And the fact that I still get to work with Pete! Even tomorrow I’ll be installing kitchen cabinets and a pocket door like we’re back on the beach again.

Growth may have looked polished on the outside - a TV show, building a brokerage with my first development project, and always smiling. But behind the scenes it was messy, uncomfortable, and at times very overwhelming. Still, looking back, I wouldn’t trade it. That version of me had to go through it so this version could exist.

First flight adventure today with Jason and Melanie — and wow, what an experience!
We took off from Sawyer and flew over Big Bay, spotting Granot Loma and the Big Bay Lighthouse from the sky. Made our way up to Copper Harbor, then stopped for fuel in Houghton.
One of the coolest moments? Flying right over my house and the brokerage! Plus getting an aerial view of the Tilden and Empire mines before heading back to Sawyer.
Seeing where we live from the air really gives you a whole new appreciation for this place.
Already can’t wait to go up again and remember to take more pictures!

Over 100 people showed up ready to play—and play we did! 10 games, 50/50 raffles, and plenty of laughs later, we raised nearly $4,000 to support affordable housing and critical repairs in our community.

Habitat for Humanity has built 114 homes in Marquette County, and since 2018, they’ve also helped residents with much-needed home repairs. Truly an organization that changes lives.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out, donated, and played along—and yes, the crowd favorite of the night?
O-69: Netflix and Chill 69
(You had to be there.)

This week, I had the privilege of traveling to Lansing, Michigan, to attend the Housing Development Conference hosted by FHL Bank of Indianapolis, CEDAM, MEDC, and MSHDA. The event brought together industry leaders, partners, and developers to discuss the challenges and opportunities in housing development.

I was honored to share about my projects in Negaunee, including the obstacles we face in rural development. It was the largest audience I’ve spoken in front of so far, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity.

A huge shoutout to my friend and mentor, Brent Forsberg, who moderated the panel discussions. Brent continues to inspire me—not only as a developer but as a community developer who truly prioritizes people over profit.

The following day, Brent gave me a tour of some of his incredible projects, including developments in REO Town in Lansing, a single-family home built with modern methods, and a courtyard-style complex in Eaton Rapids designed with high-efficiency building and operating costs in mind.

This experience has given me fresh ideas and new energy as I continue designing The Montreal in Negaunee. I’m feeling inspired by the possibilities for creating housing that not only meets community needs but also enhances neighborhoods.

Reflecting on a Year of Growth, Challenges, and Gratitude

This year brought milestones I’m incredibly proud of. At NextHome Superior Living, bringing on my business partner, Stephanie, helped us grow our team to 10 amazing agents—a big leap from where we started. We celebrated that success with an incredible LSCP Business Afterhours for our grand opening.

On the development side, I closed out my MEDC Build MI Community Grant and refinanced a construction project. Watching the demolition of a blighted building was a powerful first step toward breaking ground on my next big project in 2026—a dream I’ve worked hard to make a reality.

Running for Ishpeming City Council and earning the highest number of votes was humbling. Serving my community remains a top priority, and this new role feels like the start of meaningful progress.

Personally, this year pushed me to step outside my comfort zone. I hosted my first Board of Directors retreat for Upper Peninsula Realtors as I prepare for my presidential role in 2025-2026. I also took on three public speaking events, including my first solo talk—no small feat for someone with a fear of public speaking.

There were personal lessons, too. I jumped back into dating and, while luck hasn’t been on my side, I’ve learned so much about myself and what I truly value. I also finally purchased my dream truck—proof that patience and hard work pay off.

Through it all, I’ve built meaningful friendships, strengthened partnerships, and reminded myself that growth isn’t just about accomplishments—it’s about the people, lessons, and moments that shape us.

Here’s to another year of resilience, progress, and creating spaces where we all thrive.

Celebrating a Major Milestone at NextHome Superior Living! 🏡✨

Today, we closed on the refinancing of our NextHome Superior Living office—a milestone that reflects not only months of hard work but also the culmination of an incredible journey.

The adventure began in August 2022, when I started the renovation of our downtown Negaunee space, transforming it into a welcoming, modern hub for our clients. After months of construction, the doors officially opened in February 2024, and shortly after, we were thrilled to welcome Stephanie to NextHome. By July, she stepped into an ownership role, bringing fresh perspectives, plenty of knowledge, and a shared vision for the future.

Since her move, Stephanie has truly blossomed, learning the ins and outs of business ownership, gaining valuable leadership experience, and embracing the tools that come with being part of a franchise. Her journey has been inspiring, and I’m grateful to have her as a partner in this venture. We have plenty of work ahead as we continue to grow personally and professionally.

Getting to today required dedication, thorough planning, and a solid support system. We’re incredibly grateful to Peoples State Bank, Northern Initiatives, and Keweenaw Title for helping make this step possible, and we’re excited about the road ahead!
